Grades
Peewee Level: Kinder - 2nd
Junior Level: 3rd & 4th
Senior Level: 5th & 6th
Players will be placed in the levels according to grade they are going into at the start of the football season

Where
Practices and home games are held at the Virginia Boris Elementary School.
Practices
Teams practice 3-4 times per week from 6pm to 8pm
Games
Teams will play 10 games (5 home, 5 away) over the course of the season and will be on Saturdays.

When does registration open and how do I register?
Registration opens sometime between mid February and early March and is done online only via the Registration page. Get updates by following us on social media.
How much is registration?
Football: $350
Cheer: $300
Is there a payment plan or discounts on registration?
Yes. We offer a sibling discount of $20 for siblings if you are registering more than one player. Player must be a sibling. There is an option during check-out to make payments. Must register prior to 3/1 to be able to take advantage of payment plans.
Where do my registration fees/sponsorships go?
The Clovis Sharks is a non profit, organization that is run by volunteers and funded solely by registered participants, donations and fundraisers. The total cost to run the program costs roughly $45,000 to $50,000.
Registration fees pay for the following:
- Uniforms: football - personalized jersey and pants that players keep: Cheer - uniform to keep, bow and shoes
- Upkeep and purchase of new equipment such as helmets, pads, practice equipment, etc.
- Required league insurance, coaching background checks and training and badges
- Clovis Unified School District's required fees for the use of practice and game facilities; this includes the cost for janitors and to keep the bathrooms open during practices and games
- Payment for game officials and athletic trainer
- Website and registration management
- End of year banquet
When does registration end?
Registration remains open until all teams are filled or the end of June, whichever comes first. Be sure to register early as team will fill up quickly!
How old does my child need to be to play football or be on cheer?
The program is open to kids from grades K-6.
What are the age ranges of the football teams and how many players are there on each team?
Peewees: K-2nd grade: max 35 players
Juniors: 3rd & 4th grade: max 45 players
Seniors: 5th & 6th grade: max 45 players
Cheer: K-6th: max 45 cheerleaders
What are the weight limits for football?
Peewee Level: "X-man" 86 lbs. (can only participate as a lineman) /max weight 120 lbs.
Junior Level: max weight 155 lbs.
Seniors Level: max weight 195 lbs.
What are the eligibility requirements for football?
- Must be enrolled in grades K-6th
- Must be enrolled in a Clovis East High School feeder or enrolled in one of the "open" schools to include qualifying charter, private or magnet schools.
- Must be able to turn in before the first practice, a copy of a sports physical conducted by a physician and dated anytime in the current year.
- Proof of school enrollment (via parent connect or enrollment letter, etc)
- Proof of health insurance
What are the eligibility requirements for cheer?
- Must be enrolled in grades K-6th
- There are no limitations on where the cheerleader is enrolled
- Must be able to turn in before the first practice, a copy of a sports physical conducted by a physician and dated within the current year
- Proof of school enrollment (via parent connect or enrollment letter, etc)
- Proof of health insurance
When does the season start?
Practice typically starts the Monday after the 4th of July and the season runs through the end of November depending on how well each team does to make it to a post season (playoffs).
When, where, and how long are football practices?
- Practices are at Boris Elementary and typically move to the Clovis East Soccer fields when daylight savings time goes into effect.
- Practice is from 6 pm to 8 pm Monday through Friday during the summer and moves to Monday, Tuesday & Thursday when school starts with occasional Friday "walk-throughs" per coach's discretion
When, where, and how long are cheer practices?
- Cheer teams are determined each season based on the level of interest/registrations of participants and coaches. Participation is gauged before each season and if there is not enough interest or a coach has not volunteered, Cheer will be canceled for that year.
- Cheer practices are at the same times, dates and location as football practice.
When and where are the games played?
- Games typically start in August and run through mid to late November depending on how the team ranks in the league.
- Home games are played at Boris Elementary, away games are played at various school sites in Clovis, Fresno, Madera, Sanger, or Dinuba
- All games are played on Saturdays (with the exception of team scrimmages which are played on practice days) and times are as follows: Peewee: 9 am; Juniors: 11 am; Seniors: 1 pm with the exception of some night games starting at Peewees: 3 pm; Juniors: 5 pm; Seniors: 7 pm
What are the requirements to become a football or cheer coach?
Coaches are required to complete an application and background check, possess knowledge and experience in coaching an organized football or cheer team and have availability to attend each practice and game. In addition, football coaches must attend and complete specific certifications through USA Football.
Who do the Sharks play?
The Sharks play in the Generation of Disciples Youth Football League (GOD YFL) which consist of 12 total teams across the Central Valley.
How can I get involved as a volunteer or sponsor?
Volunteers, donations, sponsorship, and fundraisers are required to keep the program running. There are several ways to get involved.
